Trim MOV Online Free
MOV files from your iPhone, Mac screen recordings, or professional camera are often larger than you need. JustTrimVideo lets you trim MOV files directly in your browser - no QuickTime Pro needed, no iMovie required.
What is MOV?
MOV is Apple's QuickTime container format. It can hold H.264, HEVC (H.265), ProRes, and other codecs. MOV is the default format for iPhone videos, Mac screen recordings, and many professional cameras.
Common Sources of MOV Files
iPhone Videos
All iPhone camera recordings save as MOV by default
Mac Screen Recordings
QuickTime Player and Screenshot tool output MOV
Professional Cameras
Canon, Sony, DJI drones often use MOV containers
Final Cut Pro Exports
Apple's video editor exports MOV by default
Why Trim MOV Files?
- iPhone videos are big: A 1-minute 4K iPhone video is ~400MB. Trim to share just the good parts.
- Screen recordings have dead time: Cut the setup and mistakes from tutorials and demos.
- Social media limits: Discord, WhatsApp, and others have size caps. Trimming reduces file size.
- Email attachments: Most email providers limit attachments to 25MB.
How to Trim MOV Files
- 1 Select your MOV file
Click "Choose File" and select your MOV video. Works with iPhone, Mac, and camera MOVs.
- 2 Set your trim points
Use keyboard shortcuts (I/O) or enter times manually. Preview plays smoothly in all browsers.
- 3 Download your trimmed MOV
Output stays as MOV with identical quality. No conversion, no re-encoding.
MOV vs Other Formats
| Aspect | MOV | MP4 |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | Apple QuickTime | International standard |
| Codec support | H.264, HEVC, ProRes, more | H.264, HEVC |
| Best for | Apple ecosystem, editing | Universal sharing |
| Windows support | Needs codecs sometimes | Native |
MOV and MP4 are actually very similar - they can contain the same video data. JustTrimVideo handles both equally well.
ProRes Note
If your MOV contains ProRes video (common from Final Cut Pro or professional cameras), the preview may not work in your browser. You can still enter trim times manually based on your video player's timecodes - the trimming will work correctly.
